Hello everybody! This is my first attempt at blogging, so forgive my mistakes whenever you spot them, and i definitely wont say no to any advice from readers.

My interest in Quantum technology grew because of Michael Crichton's novel 'The Timeline', and peaked mainly because of an introductory paragraph in the novel.

I am going to be writing about Quantum technology, its various branches and the impact it will have upon our collective futures. Entering 2007, i find that the advances in Quantum technology is shockingly fast, so much so that we are already talking about Quantum computers, quantum calculators and information transfer which points towards an internet based on the small quanta. Some of these have already been achieved. Michael Crichton writes in the novel about a 'counterfactual' experiment in which a human hair was measured using a laser, but at no point of time was the laser shone upon the hair. Yet, the hair was measured.

This is possible because Quantum theory says that instead of a single universe there are many universes which exist in parallel. A universe in which the laser is shone on the hair, and another in which the laser isnt even started. A universe in which you are reading my blog, and another in which you have finished reading it. Mulitple universes existing side by side.

My belief is that a universe is created as soon as we think of a different approach towards an end. For example, you want your kids to go to school, let this be the end. But how you approach the end is different. You may walk your kids to school(A), you may send them in a school bus(B) or you may take them to the school in your car(C). At each different thought of a person, a different universe is created so that if the person walks his kids to school, then he would have entered universe A. This of course is just my imaginative theory.

It is impossible to comprehend life as a continuous gateways and exits of universes. And for a religious person, this theory might be too extravagant, as it places too much power in the hands of the humans. Humans have always believed in a higher force which holds sway over our lives. They have believed in a singularity which leads us to our destiny. I, personally, believe in God, a higher being, a supreme power. And this blog is not an attempt to divide religion and science, but infact it is more an effort to gel them together.

Well, enough chit-chat, lets begin. As there are a myriad branches into which quantum theory has poked its head into, we will start at a juicy one. Quantum technology.

The Quantum theory is exhaustive and it wants its finger in every pie, which is really good for us, dear reader, as we will never run out of topics to talk about. Signing off for now, but i will be sure to return with another post on the topic of Q.T.
